Role based user management
MediaLibrary's role based user management simplifies the administrative task of controlling user
access of the media library. A role defines a set of functions and permissions allowed within the
library. Users of the library are assigned particular roles. Since users do not assign their own
functions or permissions directly, but only acquire them through their role, management of individual
users becomes simply a matter of assigning roles by the Administrator.
As the number of users of the library increase, the Administrator’s overhead of managing these
users is considerably reduced with role based user management.
Controlling access to the image management system in terms of a role also allows users of a
corporate domain to access the MediaLibrary without having to log in with a username and
password. Integration with Microsoft Active Directory allows simple mapping of domain user
groups to a MediaLibrary role providing 'Single Sign-on'. So for example domain administrators
can be mapped to library 'Administrator' role and general domain users can be mapped to
library 'User' role with read-only access.
